Hello, my name is Stacy Swartz, and I’m a photography student at Mount Hood Community College. I’m originally from Massachusetts and moved to Portland Oregon about 2 years ago. This is my second stretch in college. I got a bachelors degree in Business right after high school but really felt lost with what I wanted to do.

Moving to Portland gave me a lot of time to think about what I want, and I

eventually realized that I was spending my time off going for walks to take photos. Photography had only ever been a hobby for me, but something I’ve enjoyed as long as I can remember. I’m mildly terrified to be studying something I enjoy, but I’m going for it. The more I learn, the more interested I get in telling stories with photography. I’m inspired by photos that make me feel something.

Hi I’m Ryan, 

I moved from England to New England (the old one got boring) in 2012 and have been living in Portland for the past two years. I came over as a wakeboard/waterski instructor and now I'm a photography student! I have enjoyed taking and sharing pictures since I was about 12 years old with a point and shoot 35mm. I didn’t own a digital camera until about 2009 and didn't take photography seriously until I moved to the States and a friend gave me her old Nikon D90. I got hooked pretty quickly after learning the Manual mode, realizing how much control I now had over my images.

   I am an avid outdoorsman and I am always seeking adventure, hopefully my career in photography will take me far and wide. I am not quite sure what direction to go in yet, but I’m sure I’ll figure it out as I go. I also have an odd interest in medium format film and developing so I will hopefully be making full use of the dark room at MHCC. Take a look at my instagram to see some of my adventures!

About Me

         Hello, My Name is Jeffery Rupp; I am 22 years old. Some of my hobbies include Music, Video Games, and Movies and I love Photography I have had an admiration for Photography ever since I was a child. When I was around 8 and 9 years old my parents had a very early DSLR Camera from 2001 for which I can’t remember the brand with Interchangeable Lenses. I would get in trouble every time I was playing with it!

         I had a photography class during my Junior year of High School and we had only Point and Shoot Fujifilm cameras. They were not the best. During my Senior Year I was part of the Yearbook club and was named Editor of my Senior Yearbook where we used an early Canon Rebel model to take group photos of all the club at the high school. The worst part of that job was making the Senior pages and having to deal with all of the nit-picky parents.

         Fast Forward to 2016 I decided to enroll in the Integrated Media Photography program at Mt. Hood Community College to hopefully turn my hobby into my future career as a Commercial Photographer.

Blogger Profile - Alyssa Davis

My name is Alyssa Davis. I am currently studying to become a photographer. This is my second term in college at Mt. Hood Community College.  I am Catholic.  I have been Catholic for about three years now.  I have been a photographer for the last several months, beginning in the summer of 2016.  I mostly do landscape photography at the moment, but have been incorporating portraits as well.  I am currently starting to do this, but especially once I graduate from college, I am going to travel to all the Native American Reservations in the US and Canada and take pictures of what is going on there.  I want to expose what they have been going through for years. I also want to help send the message out that Native Americans are still around, but they don’t look like the stereotype that we have been raised with.  

I am also very interested in US History and genealogy.  I have been able to trace most of my family line back to Pocahontas on one side of the family by simply using Google.  I have found out through that research that I am Cherokee, Irish, Scottish, English, German, French, Italian, and Russian.  So far, that’s all I know.  

I am very passionate about standing up for Native Americans and their welfare.  For the last four years I have been working with a Native American organization called Wiconi (pronounced “we-cho-nee”) International.  They are a Christian organization that works with natives of all tribes all over the world to help them realize that they can still be a native peoples and still worship God.  For example, they have an annual powwow in Turner, Oregon, where we all get together to worship God together by “dancing our prayers”, as the founder, Richard Twiss stated.  He taught that by dancing in your native way, that you are praising God in the way He created you to be.

  I have been in the photography field for a long time. Maybe like the last 12 years or so of my life. Im 30 years old and Im figuring out my nitch in life. Photography has kept me happy for so long i figured it was time to further pursue the field. Im from Minnesota. Lived there my whole life. I have just moved to Portland to get the further education i want. Im going to college at Mount Hood Community Collage and working on narrowing down my specific field of interests.

    Hey everybody! My name is Lisa Sellers and I'm from Eagle Creek, Oregon, which is a small town you've probably never heard of.😉  I'm in the Integrated Media: Photography program at MHCC. I have an interest in portrait, landscape, newborn, and still life photography, specifically. I've been interested in photography for about six years; I started with a tiny point-and-shoot, then a bigger point-and-shoot, and then last April I purchased a Canon 70D. Like most people I bet, I started out in auto mode and didn't venture into manual until I started school and was required to. But since then I've loved manual mode and I love being able to figure out the lighting situation more hands-on! I'm excited to continue to improve and become a better photographer.
