The “This is fine” meme originated from K.C. Green’s Gunshot Comic #648 in early January 2013. Depicting a dog trying to assure himself that everything will be fine, despite the room he is in being on fire, and his own skin eventually melting.
Rising to popularity on sites like Imgur and Tumblr for being an accurate and useful representation of stressful situations.
On July 25th, 2016, the Republican National Committee (RNC) Tweeted the Meme via it’s official twitter account @GOP as a commentary on on the events of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.
In response and within an hour original creator K.C.Green responded expressing his disdain towards their unauthorized use of his art work.
The following morning, political cartoon website The Nib responded to @GOP’s art work with a commissioned piece from K.C Green himself. Though this work was done before the RNC had tweeted.
