Meme

I couldn't find any info on the image. I thought it was hilarious though, so here it is..

Hansen_J_im190_meme

This meme I made is of Fry from Futurama, and the caption is just funny because Dubstep is horrible and sounds like a Transformer.

Meme Unflattering Beyonce- Rhianna

Unflattering Beyonce:

Back in 2013, Buzzfeed took screenshots of Beyonce from her performance for the Super Bowl XLVII and compiled them into a post. A few were very unflattering and Beyonce’s publicist requested Buzzfeed to remove them which in turn only made the photo’s more popular on social media. The main unflattering image is perfect photoshopping material and has been turned into hundreds of different memes.
I admire so many directors, but I have to say that Spike Lee stands out for me. While I was already preparing to attend a historically black university, it was School Daze that sealed the deal. I was raised in Los Angeles and later attended school and ultimately graduated in Portland Or. I didn't see a lot of the southern camaraderie that had to present to survive racism in America. Instead, I was exposed to lots and lots of violence. I wanted, I needed to understand the relationship that existed between like mind African Americans. I saw both the togetherness and separation in School Daze, I couldn't wait to experience that in my life. The list of important films for me goes on. Do the Right Thing came at a particularly tense time in LA.  That movie touched on exactly what was happening in LA. African Americans believed and used stereotypes to distance themselves from the Latina community and visa versa. I appreciated his willingness to address racism. He also addressed woman's sexuality in She's Gotta Have it. Not many men could handle the task. He did an awesome job of not making the character over sexual or promiscuous, although some might argue otherwise. Some of his other work includes Jungle Fever, Chi-Raq, Malcolm X, and Bamboozled.

Blogger Introduction

I’m Ben Peters, a camera operator, filmmaker and IT problem solver in Portland, Oregon. I’ve shot countless hours of video dating back to the early 90’s. When I was given the chance to go back to school to learn Filmmaking I jumped at the opportunity.

In my previous career I was a professional IT problem solver. I have experience with networks, servers, desktop pc’s, and various electronic devices. With today's creative fields being highly digital, this gives me a unique skill set to be a valuable asset on location or in a studio.

When I’m not behind a camera or in front of a computer, I love to ride my vintage Vespa clone. A ride on my scooter is a great stress reliever.

Series of Tubes

As reported by knowyourmeme.com "On June 28th, 2006, former Alaskan Senator Ted Stevens told the world, “The internet is not a big truck. It’s a series of tubes,” among other odd choices of wording while trying to criticize an amendment that would have prohibited ISP’s from charging for a tiered internet structure."

There have been YouTube remixes

and images that make fun of this statement

and now for my attempt

My profile

Hello, I'm Deidre. I'm currently a student in the integrated media program at Mt. Hood Community College. I'm a little older than most students and one might ask why I decided to take a chance and pursue a career in a male dominated, young person's field. Well, I have always wanted to tell stories. As a child and teen I couldn't stop. After graduating high school, I was told I needed to pursue something practical as there was no place for me in the entertainment industry. I ultimately decided to go into the medical field, later I got into non-profit work, I've even worked with national organizations like sprint and Xerox. They just won't do. I need to tell stories. I'm currently working on a fictional novel involving a successful female drug lord.  I hope to adapt that into a screen play and tell the story of this woman who lived in our neighborhood in central Los Angeles, this will be a loosely based account of course. I'm also looking to take an internship with City Bible Church, in their productions program. I would like to be a script writer, do screen plays, maybe theatrical plays, who knows. I guess that's it for now...

Meme: One Does Not Simply

The one does not simply meme comes from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, a film by Peter Jackson.

The exact moment comes from when Boromir, a character in the story says, "One does not simply walk in Mordor".

I like this meme a lot because it's clean and simple and gets messages across pretty plainly while executing a few laughs to by just replacing the end of the sentence with a new topic.

Here are some funny examples:

Then here is one that I created:

Meme: Success Kid

About: Success Kid or sometimes known as I Hate Sandcastles is an image                                            of a kid with a smug expression. It has been used as memes to describe a                                              situation that goes better than expected.

Origin: The image was taken by photographer Laney Griner of her 11 month old                                                son.

Meme - RKO Outta Nowhere!

ABOUT
The RKO meme is a series of videos in which animated images of WWE wrestler Randy Orton performing his signature knock-out move is edited into various videos of people or things tripping or falling.

ORIGIN
On May 11th 2013, during a soccer match between Real Madrid and Juventus  With only a few minutes remaining in the first half, Juventus’ Chilean midfielder Arturo Vidal was granted a penalty kick opportunity after he was seen suddenly falling over to the ground in mid-dribble. Over a year later, on October 12th, 2014, a Viner uploaded a parody version of Vidal’s fall with an animated cutout of Orton rushing towards the Juventus player and executing his signature “RKO” cutter move. Within 48 hours of upload, the video gained over 1,300 revines and 1,200 likes.

Meme - The Sator Square

For this project I thought I would go a little pre-internet in the search for a very, very old meme. Considering that the earliest discovered version of this meme was from the ruins of Pompeii in 79 A.D., this just might be the oldest meme in existence.

The intrigue of the meme comes from the fact that it is a Latin palindromic sentence that can be read in almost any direction. The sentence it forms is SATOR AREPO TENET OPERA ROTAS, which basically translates into the meaningless sentence "The farmer uses his plough as his form of work", proving that memes have always been somewhat pointless and silly.

The square has appeared on churches, monuments, and other structures all over Europe for the last 2000 years. Some groups have come to associate it with magic and christian symbolism, which basically means that if a meme is left alone long enough, it's meaning can change in very unpredictable ways.
