Meme Sad Keanu

Sad Keanu was a paparazzi taken photograph around may 2010.  He was just sitting on a bench enjoying his day eating a sandwich. By June the photo went viral. But then sadly on June 17th sadkeanu.com received a take down notice from celebrity / entertainment news site splash news.
On June 18th this messages by blogger dan replaced all the posts to the site.

"Hey Everyone,

Splash News has decided to keep their DMCA in place, as well as Tumblr, which means we may not publish any more of your awesome submissions and we must start to take down all of our previous 270+ posts. In addition, this blog will most likely be deleted in the next 48 hours by Tumblr because of the DMCA.

Although we do believe that it can fall under “fair use”, both myself and my partner don’t have any time or resources to fight it.

Thanks to everyone that helped out making this meme the most awesome one on the internet."

Bloggers then posted images not using the main pictures but a silhouettes and news of the take down also spread on Reddit and The Daily What. After all this excitement there was a event created on Facebook called Cheer up Keanu day. This encouraged fans to send love letters, phone messages, gifts, cancer donations or mails of any kind to try to make a special happy day for the Keanu. June 15th is now a special day dedicated to Keanu Reeves.

Sad Keanu hit its peak in views for about a year. It still has its views on search engines but nothing like the outbreak of it just days after the images submerged.
